The P45.94-million Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road (BSAAR) widening project in Silay City, Negros Occidental has been completed, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced.

The project involves widening the access road from two lanes to four with the width of three meters.

DPWH Negros Occidental 1st District Engineering Office finished the project in less than six months since construction began in February 2020 despite erratic weather towards end of the construction period.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said improvement of the access road will increase the road’s traffic capacity and ease travel for motorists and commuters going to and from the airport.

The widening of BSAAR, which serves as a link to the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway, is also seen to facilitate delivery of services and transport of sugarcanes to mills, providing ease of travel for sugar producers, traders, and the rural population.
