YusenJapan-based Yusen Logistics continues its expansion in Vietnam with a new warehouse in the northern city of Hai Phong.

The Yusen Logistics (Vietnam) Co. Ltd. (YL-VN) facility sits on a 100,000-square-meter plot in Hai Phong’s Dinh Vu Industrial Zone. It is comprised of a 12,000-square-meter warehouse, a 23,870-square-meter empty container depot with storage capacity for 3,000 TEUs, and a vehicle yard.

YL-VN’s former Hai Phong Port offices have been relocated to the site, bringing together customs clearance, NVOCC, and sales functions in a single location to provide one-stop supply chain solutions.

The multipurpose warehouse intends to serve locators of the Dinh Vu Industrial Zone, which is strategically located close to the Hai Phong Port and the Lach Huyen Port development. The company is anticipating a boom in demand for logistics in the city as it notes the growing number of Japanese manufacturers of electronics, electrical products, automobiles, and chemicals that are setting up shop in the industrial complex.

The new facility started operating November 1, offering general warehousing, bonded warehousing, and container freight station warehousing. Hai Phong is the company’s third logistics base after Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.

At the opening ceremony on November 12, Yusen Logistics’ president Hiromitsu Kuramoto said: “As we prepare for increased economic integration with ASEAN [Association of Southeast Asian Nations], the establishment of a global logistics network that exceeds national borders will become necessary. It is our intention, through the expansion of our business, to contribute to the economic development of Hai Phong City.”
