ASEAN Transportation Forum 2026 to tackle safety, sustainability

The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) will convene key government leaders and industry innovators for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Transportation Forum 2026 to address critical safety standards, infrastructure modernization, and green transitions across air and land transport.

Timed with the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship, the forum to be conducted on October 8 at the Marriott Hotel Manila centers on the theme “From Roads to Runways: Advancing Safety and Sustainability in Air and Land Transportation.”

Discussions will directly address growing regional connectivity demands, road safety, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) deployment, and electric vehicle adoption across the Philippine transport landscape.

“As we look ahead to ‘Navigating our future, together’, addressing the Philippines’ transport and energy challenges becomes an urgent priority,” ECCP president Dr. Diana Edralin said in a statement.

“Through the ASEAN Transportation Forum 2026, we are uniting industry leaders to accelerate green energy transitions, modernize critical infrastructure, and enhance safety from roads to runways,” she notes.

Speakers

The forum will feature a distinguished lineup of speakers and panelists representing international organizations, government agencies, and leading industry stakeholders. Among the key contributors are:

  • Jean Todt, United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, who will deliver a virtual message highlighting global road safety priorities;
  • Department of Transportation (DOTr) undersecretary Mark Steven Pastor will talk on the agency’s priorities on road safety. Perspectives on regional governance, urban mobility;
  • Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairperson Romando Artes and Stratcon managing director Colin Steley on transport modernization;
  • Board of Investments representatives Morinaella Jeusine Torgo and acting director Rose Marie Mendoza, and Department of Energy bureau director Patrick Aquino will talk about sustainable investments and energy policies.

Sector-focused discussions will be guided by expert moderators, including International Air Transport Association country manager for Philippines Samuel David, Island Skies Alliance chief executive officer  Junard Cruz, and Clean Air Asia Sustainable Transport Lead Engr. Ahn Meg Adonis.
