Aboitiz Construction, Inc. has completed construction of the new berth of DICT Bulk Terminal, Inc. (DBTI) in Panabo City, Davao del Norte.

DBTI is a joint venture company between Aboitiz Construction, the Anflo Management & Investment Corp.’s  Davao International Container Terminal, Inc. (DICT), and PHINMA Corp.’s Philcement Corp.

“Our continuing partnership with DICT—spanning projects since 2017—has allowed us to showcase our engineering and construction expertise in delivering quality infrastructure that supports the region’s growth,” Aboitiz Construction director, president, and chairman Anton Perdices said in a media release.

Equipped with state-of-the-art handling system, it can accommodate vessels with a deadweight tonnage of up to 60,000, and is primarily designed to handle cement and cementitious materials.

The new berth measures 200 meters long and 18.5 meters wide, with a 4-meter x 4-meter mooring dolphin.

DICT now operates 930 meters of berth length, enhancing the port’s capabilities and role as the main agro-industrial gateway in Mindanao.

“The new berth is a sign of the progress in the region and looks to allow the efficient and cost-effective trade of goods which will ultimately benefit the people of the Davao Region,” said DBTI president Ricardo Floirendo Lagdameo.

In 2021, DICT completed its expansion, bringing annual capacity to 800,000 twenty-foot equivalent units.
