The Bureau of Customs (BOC) collected P239.054 billion in the first three months of 2026, the highest first-quarter revenue collection to date.
Based on preliminary figures, BOC also exceeded its first-quarter target collection of P236.06 billion by 1.3%. Against the same quarter last year, actual collection was up by 3.3%.
BOC in a statement said the collection for the first three months of the year was among its top-performing periods, surpassed only by the July to September collections in 2025, “which was also a record-breaking performance achieved under the current leadership” and “reflects sustained revenue strength under intensified reforms and strengthened governance measures.”
BOC attributed its strong performance to the collective efforts of its ports and subports nationwide, whose personnel, it said, “continue to ensure the efficient and lawful collection of duties and taxes.”
Key contributors to BOC’s first-quarter gains include successful public auctions of forfeited goods, particularly smuggled high-end vehicles that convert illegal assets into public revenue as well as strengthened post-clearance audit operations.
BOC said central to these efforts is the BOC’s, Accountability, and Modernization (IAM) Program, which aims to drive reforms across operations, enhance transparency, and promotes a culture of professionalism and service among its personnel.
“Our highest first-quarter collection of P239.054 billion, with a surplus of P2.994 billion shows that integrity, accountability, and modernization are not barriers to performance — they are the very reasons we are achieving it,” Customs commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said.
He acknowledged the “hard work and dedication” of bureau officers and personnel, saying “your commitment to efficient and honest collection ensures that every peso truly serves the Filipino people.”
The Development Budget Coordination Committee has set a P1.003 trillion revenue collection target for BOC this year, higher than the P916.7 billion target and the P934.4 billion actual collection in 2025.
