The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has begun rolling out dedicated X-ray lanes for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) at major international airports to speed up inspections and baggage screening.
The lanes are initially available at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminals 1 and 3 and at Clark International Airport.
The BOC said the initiative aims to improve passenger flow and cut wait times for outgoing and returning OFWs while maintaining compliance with customs procedures.
Customs commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said the BOC will progressively expand the initiative to other international airports and passenger terminals nationwide.
“We recognize the important contribution of our OFWs, not only to their families but also to our country. Through these dedicated X-ray lanes, we want to make their passage through Customs faster, smoother, and more convenient,” Nepomuceno said.
The rollout forms part of the BOC’s broader modernization and passenger-service initiatives, which include the use of technology and streamlined procedures to improve the passenger experience while maintaining border protection and customs enforcement.
