Federal Express Corp. (FedEx) has launched a dedicated non-stop freighter service between its Asia-Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China, and Sydney, Australia, enhancing air cargo links throughout the region and reducing transit durations for shipments originating from the Philippines.
Operating five times a week using Boeing 777 freighter aircraft, FedEx said the new service is expected to reduce transit times by up to one day for select Philippine exports to Australia, allowing shipments to arrive in as little as two business days.
The route also enhances inbound trade connectivity to Australia from southern mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand.
FedEx said the new service will enable businesses across Asia and Australia to benefit from faster fulfillment and reduced inventory holding costs, increased capacity for heavy-weight and high-value cargo, and stronger business-to-business trade opportunities

“The new Guangzhou–Sydney service marks a meaningful advancement for Philippine businesses looking to grow their presence in the Australian market,” said Maribeth Espinosa, managing director of FedEx Philippines. “With faster transit times, exporters can respond more quickly to demand and gain a stronger competitive advantage in a dynamic trade environment.”
Intra-Asia corridor
FedEx said the launch comes as intra-Asia trade recorded double-digit year-on-year revenue growth in 2025, prompting businesses to build faster, more regional, and more resilient supply chains.
“In today’s environment of shifting supply chains and rising customer expectations, competitive advantage is defined by the strength and reliability of our network. This enhancement reinforces the depth of our intra-Asia connectivity, enabling customers to access key markets like Australia faster, operate with greater agility and capture more growth opportunities with confidence,” said Salil Chari, FedEx Asia Pacific president. “It also supports more resilient supply chains that underpin long-term, sustainable business growth.”
The new route forms part of FedEx’s broader investments to expand regional connectivity, including dedicated non-stop cargo services between Guangzhou and Penang, additional weekly freighter flights between Guangzhou and Bangkok, and enhanced outbound cargo connections from Hanoi to South Korea.
FedEx said the network enhancements are designed to help businesses capitalize on growing intra-Asia trade flows while expanding access to international markets.
