The Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority and Freeport (ZAMBOECOZONE) signed a memorandum of understanding on July 21, 2026 with Zamboanga JKS Coconut Products Manufacturing for the expansion of the company’s operations within the ecozone.
Under the agreement, Zamboanga JKS Coconut Products Manufacturing — owned and operated by sole proprietor Joy Oporto Kang — will lease several warehousing facilities to operate and scale up its processing facility within the economic zone, ZAMBOECOZONE announced.
The registered enterprise specializes in processing and manufacturing high-value coconut products, including charcoal and various by-products, contributing to the region’s agricultural value chain.
“This lease contract signing is a testament to the vibrant investment climate we are cultivating within the zone,” ZAMBOECOZONE chairman and administrator Raul Regondola said.

“JKS Coconut Products has consistently demonstrated that local enterprises can thrive within our Freeport while actively supporting sustainable regional development. Beyond their economic contributions, their willingness to step up during emergency situations makes them an invaluable partner to our agency and the community,” he added.
The contract signing comes shortly after JKS Coconut Products teamed up with the Zamboanga freeport authority for a humanitarian cause.
On July 6, 2026, the two organizations jointly deployed 200 sacks of rice to Sarangani Province to aid families affected by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck on June 8. The disaster relief effort was channeled through the Philippine Coconut Authority Sarangani branch.
