Philippine Airlines has cancelled or rescheduled 182 domestic and international flights to and from Manila between Nov. 14 and 18, ahead of the 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in the capital. The summit runs from Nov. 16 to 18.
PAL said it expects more movements at the airport because of the arrival of delegates. It did not give a total, and its advisory does not say which flights are cancelled and which are rescheduled. (The 182 figure is PortCalls‘ count of the airline’s list as of 3 p.m. on Oct. 30. We counted each flight number separately, so a listed pair such as PR 2121/2122 counts as two flights. – ed.)
Daily breakdown
By PortCalls‘ count, 28 flights are affected on Nov. 14, 33 on Nov. 15, 47 on Nov. 16, 43 on Nov. 17 and 31 on Nov. 18. Of the total, 150 are domestic and 32 international.
Domestic routes on the list include Davao, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Butuan, Zamboanga, General Santos, Legazpi, Tacloban, Puerto Princesa and Dumaguete. Several routes, such as Cagayan de Oro and Iloilo, appear on four or five of the five days.
The Manila–Riyadh flights, PR 654/655, are on the list every day. Other international routes include Hong Kong, Melbourne, Sydney, Jinjiang, Xiamen, Singapore and Denpasar.
What passengers can do
PAL said it will inform affected passengers directly by email and SMS. They can rebook, take a full refund or convert the booking to a travel fund, all free, through the airline’s Manage my Booking page. Flight status can be checked on PAL’s website.
The airline said it is working with the Civil Aeronautics Board, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, airport operators and other agencies to keep the adjustments to a minimum. It said it will post further updates on its website and social media.
