The pause is extended by 72 hours as PAL assesses airport conditions after attacks on Saudi airports

Resumption depends on a safety evaluation, and affected passengers will be notified and assisted with travel options
Philippine Airlines (PAL) has extended the suspension of its Riyadh flights through October 11, 2026, as it continues to monitor regional security conditions.
The carrier will not operate flights PR654 and PR655 to and from the Saudi capital from October 9 to 11. The extension adds 72 hours to the original pause.
PAL said it is still assessing conditions at the airport and working to keep operations safe. The airline said it will resume regular Riyadh service only after a thorough safety evaluation.
The first suspension followed attacks on Saudi Arabian airports earlier this week, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport, according to a report by Context.ph. The report attributed the attacks, which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, to Yemen’s Houthi movement, which claimed responsibility. PortCalls could not independently verify the claim.
PAL acknowledged that the longer disruption adds uncertainty for travelers and apologized for the inconvenience. It said affected passengers will be notified of the cancellations and assisted with available travel options. The airline described passenger and crew safety as its top priority and promised more updates as the situation develops.
PAL has not said how rebooking, refunds or compensation will work.
Shipments booked on PR654 or PR655 may be delayed or rerouted. Because PAL has not published cargo-specific guidance, shippers should confirm directly with their forwarder or the airline’s cargo office.
