PPA said weighbridge proper maintenance and operation “contribute significantly to the efficient management of port operations and the promotion of safety within the transport and logistics chain”
The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has directed its offices to ensure the proper maintenance, calibration, monitoring, and operation of weighbridge facilities located within PPA ports.
The directive under PPA Operations Memorandum Order (OMO) No. 007-2026 is in line with the recommendations of the Lower House Committee on Transportation and part of PPA’s “continuing commitment to safe, efficient, and reliable port operations.”
“It is emphasized that weighbridges are important operational tools that support cargo monitoring, weight verification, and road safety objectives. Their proper maintenance and operation contribute significantly to the efficient management of port operations and the promotion of safety within the transport and logistics chain,” OMO No. 007-2026, dated June 2 and issued by PPA assistant general manager for operations Mark Jon Palomar, states.
Under the memo, all operators of weighbridge facilities should ensure that such facilities are maintained in good operating condition and subjected to periodic calibration and preventive maintenance, as may be required by applicable standards and operational requirements.
Any malfunction, breakdown, calibration issue, or service interruption affecting a weighbridge facility should be immediately reported to the concerned PPA port manager, together with the corrective actions being undertaken and the expected timeline for restoration of service.
PPA port managers should also continuously monitor the operational status of weighbridge facilities within their respective areas of jurisdiction and ensure that appropriate remedial measures are promptly undertaken whenever deficiencies are identified.
Moreover, port managers should submit to the PPA Port Operations and Services Department, through the PPA assistant general manager for operations, a quarterly report on the status of weighbridge facilities within their respective ports.

Port terminal operators and cargo-handling operators, meanwhile, should fully cooperate with the concerned port managers and provide all documents, certifications, maintenance records, calibration reports, and other information necessary for monitoring and reporting purposes.
PPA mandates the mandatory weighing of all outbound containers and roll-on/roll-off vehicles, both foreign and domestic.
