quy_nhon_portThe General Department of Customs of Vietnam will soon activate a range of new functions in the e-customs system to facilitate customs processes while making it easier for the declarant to go through customs procedures.

The new features are to be incorporated from November 14, 2016 and include those on expediting the handling of import and export goods, and improving management of processed and manufactured goods for export, reports Vietnam Customs News.

To better handle import and export items, the additional functions include those relating to registering customs procedures outside of working hours, on days off and on holidays; inspecting import and export goods when loaded, discharged, transported, and stored at the border gate; and inspecting the e-document and e-dossier.

Also part of the functional improvements are those referring to authorized inspection at the customs branch where the goods are declared; transportation declaration; transfer report; management of import and export declaration on the site; and issuance of a warning of overdue declaration.

These functions will help Customs and enterprises quickly input information via the electronic system for processing, said the report. For example, with the function of registering customs procedures outside of working hours, on days off and on holidays, a declarant who has a need for such procedures done can register via the electronic database system. This will prompt the leader of the custom branch to arrange for customs officers to inspect the registration of custom procedures outside of working hours and assign personnel to reply to the declarant.

Moreover, there will be new functions installed in the e-customs system for aiding the management of processed and manufactured goods for export. These are intended to help the customs officer to easily collect information about enterprises such as their production and business areas and final accounts, and to manage and update the inspection results, among others.

According to Au Anh Tuan, deputy director of the Customs Control and Supervision Department, customs officers are now being trained and guided to operate the new functions.
