2GO Travel and Ceres Liner have launched dedicated shuttle routes that transport passengers directly from 2GO port terminals to Ceres bus terminals, aiming to streamline inter-island travel and reduce common points of friction.
The partnership between 2GO and Vallacar Transit Inc., the company behind the Ceres Liner bus network, debuted at Nasipit Port in Agusan del Norte, connecting arriving vessel passengers to a Ceres terminal in Butuan City.
Cebu and Cagayan de Oro are next in line, with both gateways set to be added to the network soon.
The setup is designed to make the handoff between sea and land travel as seamless as possible. Passengers traveling on 2GO vessels can reserve their shuttle seats onboard before docking, allowing Ceres operations to sync with vessel arrival times and keeping passenger movement from pier to terminal fluid and predictable.
The two companies said they are actively exploring additional ports and terminals to extend the network further.
“This partnership strengthens access for passengers traveling to and from nearby provinces, making it easier for more Filipinos to connect to key ports and continue their journeys across islands,” said Atty. Collin Derk Isidto, vice president for legal at Vallacar Transit. “By improving connectivity between land and sea transport, we help enable more convenient and reliable inter-island travel.”
Francis Chua, business unit head of 2GO Travel, said the collaboration serves a broader purpose than convenience alone.
“We hope that through this collaboration, we enable not only regular travelers and groups, but also entrepreneurs and communities to access more destinations across the Philippines. This added convenience opens more opportunities for Filipinos to explore and connect across islands,” he said.
2GO Group, an SM Investments Corporation subsidiary, is the country’s largest point-to-point transportation and logistics provider, operating across sea freight, forwarding, logistics, express delivery, and travel through six business units.
Ceres is one of the biggest bus operators in the Visayas and Mindanao.
