Alstom names Maixandeau managing director for East Asia

Alstom has appointed Yann Maixandeau as managing director for East Asia, tapping a regional veteran to oversee operations across an eight-market cluster as the rail company pursues expanding infrastructure opportunities in the region.

Maixandeau, who is based in Singapore, will be responsible for Alstom’s business performance across Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam, the company announced in a media release.

The French rail group has maintained a presence in East Asia for more than four decades and employs over 1,600 people across eight locations in the cluster. The company is active in a broad range of rail projects spanning new metro lines, signaling modernization, and the deployment of more fuel-efficient transport systems.

Current regional projects include Manila’s Light Rail Transit Line 1 Cavite Extension, Bangkok’s Pink and Yellow monorail lines, Taipei’s Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin and Circular lines, and Hanoi Metro Line 3.

Alstom is also involved in the North-South Commuter Railway Extension in the Philippines, the automated people mover system at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, signaling systems for Singapore’s Circle Line and Thomson-East Coast Line, an extension of Hong Kong’s Lantau Airport Railway, and a long-term signaling services contract in South Korea.

Maixandeau has held several leadership roles at Alstom across the Asia-Pacific region. He most recently served as managing director for Singapore and Malaysia before assuming the broader East Asia post.

Alstom, listed in France, posted a €19.2 billion revenue for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. The company supplies a full range of rail solutions, including high-speed and regional trains, metros, monorails, trams, turnkey systems, infrastructure, signaling, and digital rail products.
