President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Samuel Bautista as the new chairperson of the Professional Regulatory Board for Customs Brokers (PRBCB).

Bautista’s appointment paper was signed on March 8. He took his oath of office before Professional regulation Commission chairman Teofilo S. Pilando, Jr. on March 9.

Bautista replaces Dr. Nenette Dagondon, who will remain as first member of the PRBCB. Appointed as second member was Albert Cruz, department head of Emilio Aguinaldo College.

Their appointment covers three years.

Bautista is the president and chief learning officer of the Academy of Developmental Logistics and president of LGC Logistics, Inc.

He is also a professor at the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Graduate School, a member of the Commission on Higher Education-Technical Committee for Customs Administration, and a management committee member of the International Network of Customs Universities.

Bautista was also a director of the Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. in 2017-2019, and chief of staff of the Bureau of Customs Office of the Commissioner from 2015 to 2016.

Bautista also worked as program director at the AIR21 Academy of Developmental Logistics, and was senior manager for clearance operations at Airfreight 2100, Inc.

Under Republic Act No. 9280, or the Customs Brokers Act of 2004, the PRBCB, under the Professional Regulation Commission, oversees the standardization and regulation of customs administration education; the examination and registration of customs brokers; and the supervision, control and regulation of the practice and customs broker profession.
