The Bureau of Customs-Port of Batangas (BOC-Batangas) collected ₱120.88 billion in revenue during the first half of 2026, exceeding its target of ₱118.44 billion by 2% and posting a surplus of ₱2.45 billion. Elevated oil prices contributed significantly to the strong fiscal performance, boosting duties and taxes.
District Collector Carmelita Talusan said the port is aiming to surpass its full-year revenue goal of ₱252.41 billion, which is 9.3% higher than its 2025 collection of ₱230.95 billion.
Talusan emphasized that BOC-Batangas continues to streamline cargo clearance and implement reforms to make compliance easier for legitimate businesses. Collaboration with the automotive sector has already reduced motor vehicle processing time to less than two days, down from five to six days.
She noted that the port’s performance remains driven by oil, petroleum, and automotive imports, but the district hopes to accommodate more commodities and volumes, especially with the upcoming South Luzon Container Terminal in Bauan, set to begin operations in 2028.

In March 2026, BOC-Batangas recorded one of its strongest monthly performances, collecting ₱22.21 billion and exceeding its target by ₱3.05 billion or 15.93%.
“These numbers are certainly significant. But beyond the figures lies a more meaningful story. They reflect the confidence of the trading community. They affirm that when government delivers efficient and responsive service, businesses are encouraged to comply, investments continue to grow, and trade flows more efficiently,” Talusan said during her keynote at the 1st Southern Luzon Logistics Conference and Exhibit 2026, organized by PortCalls in partnership with BOC-Batangas.
Talusan assured stakeholders that BOC-Batangas will continue reviewing its processes, addressing possible gray areas, and strengthening collaboration with industries and government agencies to further enhance trade facilitation in Southern Luzon. — Roumina Pablo
