The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Cebu inaugurated the renovated X-ray Inspection Project (XIP) Satellite Office at the Subport of Mactan, facility intended to strengthen non-intrusive cargo inspection and improve trade facilitation.
The upgraded facility was officially opened following a joint flag-raising ceremony on July 27 led by district collector Atty. Zsae Carrie De Guzman and subport collector Gerardo Campo, with officials and personnel from both ports in attendance.
Managed by XIP Field Officer Jan Adam Mose, the upgraded facility is designed to streamline inspection processes, reinforcing the port’s efforts to strengthen border protection while facilitating legitimate trade and travel.
XIP is a frontline border protection and intelligence unit that employs non-intrusive container and baggage scanning to prevent smuggling, safeguard national borders, and examine cargo.
During the event, De Guzman reiterated Customs commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno’s directive to foster a culture of hospitality and professionalism within the bureau.
She said a service-oriented work environment is essential to restoring public trust and aligns with the commissioner’s vision of building a modern, people-centered customs agency recognized for integrity, revenue generation, and trade facilitation.
