The Gokongwei-led carrier expects operating performance to improve in the second half of 2026, citing lower fuel prices and improving consumer sentiment
Cebu Pacific carried nearly 14.5 million passengers in the first half of 2026, a 4.3% increase from 13.9 million in the same period last year, driven by continued growth in its domestic network.
The listed Gokongwei-led carrier reported in a regulatory disclosure that domestic passenger traffic rose 4.9% to 10.9 million, while international passenger traffic increased 2.4% to 3.6 million during the six-month period.
Seat capacity expanded 9.7% year-on-year to 17.9 million seats, resulting in an average seat load factor (SLF) of 81.2%.
For June alone, Cebu Pacific carried 2.3 million passengers, up 2.5% from the same month last year. Seat capacity during the month increased 7.2%, while the overall SLF eased to 83.6% from 87.5% in June 2025.
Domestic passenger traffic in June climbed 6.2% on a 17.7% increase in seat capacity, resulting in a domestic SLF of 83.1%.
International passenger traffic, however, declined 8.6% year-on-year as seat capacity was reduced 18.5%, lifting the international SLF by 9.3 percentage points to 85.4%.
Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Xander Lao said domestic travel continued to underpin passenger growth despite the seasonal slowdown.
“June marked a return to year-on-year passenger growth, driven by the continued strength of our domestic network even as we entered the traditional lean travel season. While international volumes remained below last year, this largely reflected previous capacity adjustments,” Lao said.
He said the airline expects operating performance to improve in the second half of the year.
“With fuel prices having eased significantly and consumer sentiment improving, our market position continues to strengthen, and we expect a further recovery in operating performance through the second half of the year,” he added.
