Cebu Pacific will begin introducing Starlink satellite internet across its fleet in 2027, becoming the first low-cost airline in Southeast Asia to offer SpaceX’s high-speed in-flight connectivity service.

The Gokongwei-owned airline announced on July 14 that the rollout is part of its ongoing investment in customer experience and digital innovation as it expands one of the youngest airline fleets in the region.

Starlink, SpaceX’s low-Earth orbit satellite network, will provide passengers with high-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi capable of supporting HD video streaming, online gaming and other internet-based services throughout their flights.

In addition to enhancing the passenger experience, the system will strengthen operational connectivity for Cebu Pacific’s flight crews and operational teams, promoting greater efficiency throughout the airline’s operations.

The deployment is part of a broader agreement involving Cebu Pacific and fellow Indigo Partners portfolio airlines, Frontier Airlines in the United States, Wizz Air in Europe, Volaris in Mexico, and JetSMART in South America, which together plan to install Starlink on more than 1,000 aircraft.

The initiative represents one of the largest global commitments to next-generation inflight connectivity, with the participating airlines offering reliable onboard internet through a system managed directly by Starlink.

“Starlink will provide our portfolio airlines with reliable, high-speed connectivity, further enhancing the customer experience of flying on Wizz, Frontier, Volaris, JetSMART and Cebu Pacific,” said Bill Franke, managing partner of Indigo Partners.

Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Xander Lao said the technology upgrade reflects changing passenger expectations while supporting the airline’s low-cost business model.

“Introducing Starlink marks another important step in delivering a better travel experience for every Juan,” Lao said. “Reliable, high-speed connectivity has become an expectation for today’s travelers, and we’re excited to bring that experience to our guests. Whether they’re staying in touch with loved ones, catching up on work, or enjoying their favorite content, Starlink will allow them to stay connected throughout their journey while Cebu Pacific remains true to our commitment to making air travel accessible and affordable.”

Indigo Partners LLC, based in Phoenix, Arizona, is a private equity fund focused on global investments in air transportation.

Starlink is a satellite constellation in low-Earth orbit, delivering broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, and video calls. It is engineered and operated by SpaceX, which also provides orbital-class reusable rocket launch services.

Cebu Pacific, which entered the Philippine aviation market in 1996, has carried more than 250 million passengers and currently operates a fleet of 100 aircraft serving 35 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
