The CMA CGM Group has completed its $1.4-billion acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain, significantly expanding the North American contract logistics operations of its subsidiary CEVA Logistics.

The transaction, announced in July, adds nearly 10,000 FedEx Supply Chain employees and about 34 million square feet of warehouse space to CEVA’s North American network.

With the acquisition, CEVA now operates approximately 150 warehouses and more than 240 locations across North America, with a workforce of about 20,000.

The deal also expands CEVA’s capabilities in healthcare, technology, consumer and retail logistics, while adding digital and operational capabilities that the company said will support greater use of automation and robotics across its North American network.

The acquisition is part of CMA CGM’s strategy to expand integrated logistics services covering ocean shipping, terminals, inland transportation, warehousing and value-added logistics.

“This completion marks an important step in the development of CMA CGM and CEVA Logistics in North America. By significantly expanding our contract logistics capabilities, we are strengthening our ability to offer customers integrated, end-to-end supply chain solutions across ocean, air, land and logistics,” CMA CGM chairman and chief executive officer Rodolphe Saadé said.

“It also reinforces CMA CGM’s long-term commitment to investing in the United States, a strategic growth market for the Group, and supporting the resilience and efficiency of its supply chain,” he added.

Air and ocean partnerships

Alongside the acquisition, CMA CGM and FedEx entered into multi-year commercial agreements covering air and ocean freight.

Under the ocean freight agreement, CMA CGM will become a preferred ocean carrier for FedEx, under a non-exclusive arrangement.

The companies also plan to cooperate on air cargo capacity on strategic routes, including the Asia-Europe trade lane. The agreement is intended to strengthen their respective networks, improve aircraft utilization and provide additional flexibility on long-haul routes.

For FedEx, the sale forms part of its ongoing portfolio simplification and broader transformation strategy.

“Today’s milestone demonstrates the continued progress we are making to execute our strategy with rigor and discipline,” FedEx president and CEO Raj Subramaniam said. “We are building a more focused FedEx, centered on the differentiated capabilities that have made our unparalleled network essential to global commerce.”

“As we continue to strengthen our core transportation network and deepen our reach across high-value verticals, FedEx is simultaneously creating value for our customers and stockholders,” Subramaniam said.

Subramaniam also thanked FedEx Supply Chain employees for their contributions to the company and its customers.

“I want to thank our FedEx Supply Chain team members for their many contributions to FedEx and our customers over the years. We wish them success as they begin their next chapter with CEVA Logistics, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with CMA CGM,” he said.

CEVA Logistics, the logistics arm of CMA CGM, operates in 170 countries and reported $18.3 billion in revenue in 2025. The company has about 110,000 employees and more than 1,700 facilities globally.

FedEx said the sale further sharpens its focus on its core transportation network as it continues its broader transformation.
