Emirates SkyCargo has introduced a specialized air cargo service for transporting artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and equipment, as growing investments in the technology drive demand for reliable logistics solutions.

Called “AI Tech,” Emirates SkyCargo announced that the new product is designed to transport sensitive and high-value equipment, including AI server racks, semiconductors, graphics processing units (GPUs), capital equipment, and other critical hardware.

The service combines priority loading, specialized handling and shipment monitoring through the carrier’s command center in Dubai to help customers meet deployment schedules.

The airline said the increasing sophistication of computing and processing systems, coupled with the rapid adoption of AI technologies, has made the transportation of technology equipment more complex.

Large-scale AI infrastructure deployments typically involve high-value shipments, tight delivery schedules and specialized handling requirements.

AI Tech addresses these requirements through standardized operating procedures across the airline’s network, including priority loading, enhanced shipment monitoring and proactive customer coordination throughout the transportation process.

“Behind every AI breakthrough is physical infrastructure that needs to arrive safely and on time. AI Tech is designed to give customers confidence that their critical equipment will move seamlessly across our network, supported by operational oversight and proactive communication,” said Badr Abbas, divisional senior vice president of Emirates SkyCargo.

“In July alone, we transported more than 700 tonnes of AI infrastructure across our global network, and demand has continued to grow. As this sector expands, our ambition is to become the carrier of choice for companies operating across the AI ecosystem,” Abbas added.

The service features:

  • dedicated handling procedures to maintain equipment orientation and minimize damage risks
  • priority loading and scheduling for time-sensitive shipments
  • airport-to-airport visibility through milestone updates monitored by the Dubai command center

It also provides proactive customer communication and coordination, as well as specialist project cargo support for oversized and heavy shipments.

Emirates SkyCargo developed AI Tech based on its experience transporting AI-related hardware between manufacturing centers and major technology markets worldwide.

The service is available across the airline’s global network for most AI-related shipments, including semiconductors, chips and server racks. For highly specialized manufacturing equipment, the airline conducts advance assessments of airport station capabilities to ensure that specific handling and transportation requirements can be accommodated.

The new offering will be supported by Emirates SkyCargo’s fleet and global network.

By March 2027, the airline expects to operate 23 dedicated freighters, providing additional main-deck capacity to transport tall, dense server racks that can weigh more than 3.5 tonnes.

Cargo capacity aboard its wide-body passenger aircraft will also supplement the dedicated freighter fleet.
