FAST Logistics Group and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Misamis Oriental have expanded their partnership to strengthen logistics and supply chain support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Northern Mindanao Region.

The partnership, according to a FAST Logistics blog, builds on a roundtable discussion conducted by FAST and DTI Misamis Oriental in January involving entrepreneurs from the province to identify logistics and supply chain solutions that could support trade and economic development.

Under the agreement, FAST will provide end-to-end logistics support for MSMEs from Misamis Oriental, including its capital Cagayan de Oro City, participating in trade fairs, product exhibitions, and market promotion activities nationwide.

The support includes transportation of products and exhibit materials, warehousing and temporary storage, on-site delivery, and reverse logistics services. FAST will also extend special logistics rates for DTI-supported trade activities to help MSMEs reduce operational costs and improve distribution efficiency.

The agreement was signed on May 23 during the final day of the IFEX Philippines 2026 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City by Manuel Onrejas Jr., chief executive officer for logistics of FAST, and Jesusa Abear, provincial director of DTI Misamis Oriental.

“At DTI Misamis Oriental, strengthening collaboration with the private sector is one of our key strategies to create more growth opportunities for businesses in Cagayan de Oro and across the province. We remain committed to supporting MSMEs in line with the government’s vision of empowering the backbone of the Philippine economy,” Abear said.

A major component of the partnership is the implementation of a forward stocking solution that will allow MSME products to be pre-positioned at FAST warehouse facilities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to improve fulfillment speed, inventory readiness, and supply chain resiliency.\

The companies said the system would enable faster order fulfillment, shipment consolidation, and shorter delivery lead times, particularly for institutional buyers, retailers, and distributors. The initiative is also expected to help businesses maintain supply continuity during typhoons and other disruptions.

FAST said it would support the establishment and operation of forward stock facilities for qualified MSMEs endorsed by DTI Misamis Oriental to strengthen local aggregation and product readiness initiatives.

The program aims to improve the market reach and competitiveness of products from Misamis Oriental, including food items, wearables, handicrafts, and homestyle products.

During the signing ceremony, Onrejas underscored the strategic importance of Misamis Oriental and the highly-urbanized Cagayan de Oro City as gateways to Northern Mindanao.

“Recognizing the province’s contribution to the regional economy, we continue to strengthen our presence and logistics capabilities in the area to serve businesses of all sizes, including MSMEs, in Cagayan de Oro and nearby provinces,” he said.

FAST currently operates four logistics hubs in Misamis Oriental located in the towns of Bulua, Tagoloan, Casinglot, and Opol, supporting distribution operations across Bukidnon, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Camiguin, and nearby Agusan provinces.

“Through our partnership with DTI Misamis Oriental, we aim to further support trade facilitation and economic development in Northern Mindanao,” Onrejas added.

The company said it continues to strengthen its inland freight and trucking network in Mindanao, including the deployment of its “mosquito fleet” of small trucks to enhance last-mile and door-to-door delivery services in the region.

FAST also said it could support MSMEs expanding beyond Mindanao through multi-modal transport services covering land, sea, and air freight.

Beyond logistics operations, FAST and DTI Misamis Oriental will also collaborate on capability-building initiatives focused on logistics readiness, packaging and labeling, cost optimization, trade fair preparation, and resiliency strategies for inter-island trade.
