Laguna Gateway Inland Container Terminal (LGICT), a unit of International Container Terminal Services, Inc., has renewed its certification as a customs facility and warehouse (CFW).
The latest certificate of authority (COA) issued by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) will be valid until 2029 and officially recognizes LGICT’s upgraded status from an off-dock yard to an inland container terminal, LGICT said in a statement.
The terminal first secured its CFW status in 2017, becoming the first customs facility issued with such authority under the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, and the first off dock container yard in southern Luzon. In 2022, BOC also granted LGICT a COA to operate a container yard-container freight station (CY-CFS).
Under Customs Memorandum Order No. 18-2022, CFWs are facilitiess – such as CY-CFSc – for temporary storage of goods established and authorized by BOC. A CFS, on the other hand, is a facility duly authorized to accept and store containers loaded with consolidated shipments, for temporary storage, examination, stripping, stuffing, and other related activities as may be allowed under customs laws, rules, and regulations.
Established in 2015, LGICT is a 21-hectare dry port/inland container depot located in Barangay San Cristobal, Calamba City, Laguna. It is situated near the economic zones in Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, and the eastern part of Cavite.
