Manila Multipurpose Terminal (MMT) has started deploying a new fleet of 16-ton Konecranes forklifts as part of its continuing equipment modernization program.
MMT, a subsidiary of listed firm International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), announced in a LinkedIn post that the first batch of the 13 new units has arrived, with four forklifts now on site. The equipment will replace older units and strengthen fleet availability and cargo-handling capacity for both vessel and landside operations.
The investment is aimed at improving the safety, efficiency and reliability of cargo-handling operations at the Manila terminal.
The equipment investment adds to MMT’s recent expansion of its cargo-handling capabilities. In 2025, the terminal completed the acquisition of 13 new 16-ton forklifts, intended to support faster vessel and cargo turnaround.
MMT also completed two additional eco-friendly bulk cargo bays in March 2026, bringing the total to seven and increasing bulk storage capacity from 43,260 cubic meters to 61,404 cubic meters. The terminal also invested in additional tractor heads to support cargo movement within the facility.
MMT operates a 13.2-hectare multipurpose terminal at Manila Harbour Centre in Tondo, Manila. It handles international and domestic bulk and breakbulk cargo and has an annual capacity of up to 10 million metric tons, according to the terminal operator.
MMT was rebranded from Manila Harbor Center in 2024 following ICTSI’s acquisition of the facility in 2021. The terminal serves industries including construction, mining, power, telecommunications, manufacturing, and agriculture.
The terminal has also been expanding its engagement with shipping stakeholders. In June 2026, MMT and the Philippine Ship Agents Association met to discuss ways to optimize terminal operations, improve efficiency and reinforce safety protocols across port and shipping activities.
