Manila Multipurpose Terminal (MMT) leadership met with officers of the Philippine Ship Agents Association (PSAA) on June 2 to discuss shared industry best practices and operational guidelines aimed at strengthening cooperation between the terminal and the shipping community.

The meeting centered on opportunities to optimize terminal operations, enhance efficiency, and reinforce safety protocols across port and shipping activities. Participants exchanged insights on current operational practices and explored ways to streamline processes, improve coordination, and deepen collaboration among terminal operators and industry stakeholders. The discussions also underscored the importance of proactive measures that support seamless port operations and uphold the highest standards of safety and service delivery.

MMT Chief Executive Officer Mikkel Puyat welcomed PSAA’s participation and the association’s valuable perspectives on trends and challenges shaping the shipping and logistics industry. He stressed the importance of maintaining open communication, cooperation, and knowledge-sharing among stakeholders to advance terminal services and address the evolving needs of the maritime sector. Puyat noted that strong partnerships and regular engagement are essential to identifying opportunities for improvement and developing practical solutions to industry concerns.

Also present from MMT were Kevin Randall, senior operations advisor; Lee Charles Wilson, health, safety and environment advisor; and Geraldine Santos, commercial head.

Representing PSAA were President Ricardo Jamandre and board members Joel Ilagan, Anthony Calingo, Virginia Madlang-awa, Alfred Hernandez, Philip Buñag, and Dan Alampay.

The meeting reflects MMT’s commitment to fostering strong industry partnerships and supporting initiatives that promote operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in Philippine port operations.

MMT is a 13.2-hectare port facility at the Port of Manila serving bulk, breakbulk, project, and other general cargo. With an annual capacity of 10 million metric tons, it is the largest and most efficient international bulk and breakbulk operations hub in the Philippines.

PSAA is the primary organization representing ship agents and ship brokers in the Philippines. It serves as the voice of the ship agency industry before government agencies and other stakeholders, promoting the interests of its members while upholding professional standards and ethical practices in maritime commerce.
