JT International Asia Manufacturing Corp. (JTI-AMC) formally opened its P2-billion Dry Ice Expanded Tobacco (DIET) plant at LIMA Estate in Malvar, Batangas, expanding the company’s manufacturing capacity in the Philippines.
The 2,006-square-meter facility, inaugurated on September 23, 2026, is JTI’s first DIET plant in Southeast Asia.
The facility will use liquid carbon dioxide in the preparation and processing of tobacco raw materials, with the technology aimed at improving consistency and manufacturing efficiency.

Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) director general Tereso Panga led government officials at the inauguration ceremony.
Also present were the Japanese Embassy Minister for Economic Affairs Naobumi Yokota, Congressman King Collantes, Malvar Mayor Artemio Abu, and the Bureau of Customs deputy commissioner for the Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group Atty. Agaton Teodoro Uvero, and PEZA LIMA estate zone manager Allan Datahan.
JTI Philippines general manager Alan Jackson, JTI-AMC factory lead for the Philippines Amir Vajdi, JTI regional supply chain vice president for South Asia Oguz Kose, and other JTI officials also attended the event.
Panga commended JTI Philippines for its ongoing investments and contributions to the local tobacco sector, highlighting its role in enhancing the country’s standing in the global tobacco value chain.
“As we always say to our investors, we have a stake in your success because if you are happy with your experience, that only means you will continue to reinvest in the Philippines, which enables us to sustain jobs, exports, and other economic opportunities in the country. So, with that, you can be assured of our full support at PEZA in your endeavors,” he said.
JTI Philippines has invested more than P17 billion cumulatively in the country since registering with PEZA as an export enterprise in 2015.
The company has also provided jobs to more than 1,000 Filipino workers in economic zones.
