Lalamove and EY’s China unit signed a deal to advance developments in the emerging low-altitude economy (LAE), particularly for applications in logistics services.
Under their memorandum of understanding, the two companies – Lalamove, an on-demand delivery and logistics service provider, and EY, a global professional services and consulting firm – will conceptualize and develop next-generation corporate logistics services, especially for large enterprises.
LAE involves electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, autonomous drones, and smart infrastructure, which are used for services, commercial operations, and other economic activities in the airspace below 1,000 to 3,000 meters.
The EY-Lalamove partnership aims to speed up the transformation of urban logistics and global supply chain management by combining the two companies’ advanced technologies, regulatory expertise, and scalable logistics solutions.
EY China chair and Greater China regional managing partner Jack Chan said the collaboration marks their venture into a new industry as well as helping shape the use of technology in economic growth.
“For EY, this collaboration is not simply about participating in a new industry. It is about helping shape the next wave of economic transformation, where technology, infrastructure, regulation, and capital come together to create sustainable growth and long-term value,” Chan said in a statement.
Lalamove chief operating officer Paul Loo, for his part, said the tie-up will help corporations navigate increasingly complex supply chains.
“By integrating drone-enabled deliveries with our ground networks, we are creating a seamless, multi-dimensional instant logistics ecosystem. We are pioneering these low-altitude economy solutions in Hong Kong and aim to expand across international markets,” Loo said.
Lalamove was founded in Hong Kong in 2013 and now operates in 14 markets across Asia, Latin America, and the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) area.
It entered the Philippine market in 2016, and is among those considered as a founding partner of the government-initiated Supply Chain and Logistics Center.
