Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP), the joint venture between MacroAsia Corporation and Lufthansa Technik, broke ground for its aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Clark International Airport that is expected to be operational by 2028.
The upcoming facility forms part of LTP’s expansion program and is expected to reinforce the country’s competitiveness as an aviation services center in the Asia-Pacific region.

The MRO complex will be built on an approximately 157,000-square-meter site, backed by an investment in “three-digit-million-dollar” range, Lufthansa Technik said in a media release.
It is expected to generate approximately 1,200 skilled jobs.
“This investment is about much more than a new facility. It is a commitment to the next 25 years, and hopefully, many more. It reflects our confidence in the Philippines, in the talent of the Filipino people, and in the strong partnerships we have developed and nurtured over the last decades,” said Holger Beck, president and CEO of LTP.
The facility will expand Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ base maintenance, including a paint shop and non-destructive testing workshops.
Once operational, the Clark facility will become LTP’s second major base maintenance center in the country, complementing its existing operations at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
LTP has been providing aircraft maintenance services in the Philippines for more than 25 years.
The new facility is designed primarily for widebody aircraft maintenance and is expected to include dedicated aircraft painting and non-destructive testing capabilities.
It will initially accommodate selected Airbus and Boeing widebody aircraft, with plans to expand capabilities to support newer aircraft types, including the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by officials of Lufthansa Technik Philippines, MacroAsia, project partners, government agencies, and aviation industry stakeholders.
“Lufthansa Technik is significantly expanding its footprint across the Asia-Pacific region and around the globe. Given the future potential of the MRO market, building a second site in the Philippines is one of the consequences of our growth strategy. It is the right step at the right time,” said Soeren Stark, CEO of Lufthansa Technik and chairman of the board of Lufthansa Technik Philippines.
MacroAsia said the project reflects its continuing partnership with Lufthansa Technik AG and their shared commitment to developing world-class aircraft maintenance capabilities in the Philippines while supporting the long-term growth of the country’s aviation industry.
