  • Machine Technology Co., Ltd. and Solvo Europe formed a strategic partnership to deploy a multi-cargo Terminal Operating System (TOS) across Southeast Asia
  • MTECH will supply hardware, automation equipment, and lifecycle support, while Solvo will provide its Solvo.TOS logistics software platform
  • The partnership will target ports and terminals in Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia
  • The move aligns with Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor infrastructure push and port modernization drive
  • Expansion projects at Laem Chabang Port and Map Ta Phut Industrial Port are increasing container and liquid-bulk capacity
  • The TOS platform supports multi-cargo operations, rail integration, reefer monitoring, and digitized yard and gate workflows
  • TOS is already used by global terminals, including those in Antwerp, Tallinn, Luanda, and Aktau

Machine Technology Co., Ltd. (MTECH), a Thai engineering firm supplying port automation equipment, has entered into a strategic partnership with logistics software provider Solvo Europe to deliver advanced terminal operating systems to ports across Southeast Asia.

Under the agreement, MTECH will offer Solvo’s multi-cargo Terminal Operating System (TOS) solutions to ports and terminals in Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia, combining local hardware delivery and lifecycle support with Solvo’s software platform designed for complex cargo operations.

The partnership comes as Thailand accelerates port modernization and logistics connectivity under the government’s Eastern Economic Corridor development program.

Expansion works at Laem Chabang Port, including the Phase 3 project, are expected to increase container capacity from roughly 11 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) to 18 million TEUs annually, while adding deep-sea berths and expanded rail facilities.

At the same time, the Phase 3 expansion of Map Ta Phut Industrial Port is boosting Thailand’s capacity to handle energy and petrochemical liquid-bulk cargo. Cold-chain trade is also booming, with Thai fruit exports to China via the China–Laos Railway experiencing triple-digit growth.

“Fruit trains” from Laem Chabang to Kunming became regular in 2023, while Thailand’s own Bangkok–Nong Khai high-speed link is planned to connect by 2030.

The developments are raising operational requirements for ports, including higher throughput, improved multimodal coordination, and digitized management of yard, gate, and rail processes.

“In choosing a partner, we looked closely at what the national and regional markets actually need—not just today, but in the years ahead. Solvo solutions don’t just meet the current demands of Thai terminals; they offer a future-ready foundation. We’ve seen how their systems perform in high-volume projects across the Middle East and Africa, and we’re confident that together—with the depth of experience Solvo brings from Europe, Asia, and beyond—we can help ports in Southeast Asia reach world-class levels of digital maturity,” said Kittipong Rojanasheewa, managing director of MTECH.

The integrated system is designed to support Southeast Asia’s evolving logistics requirements, including fully digitized workflows, roll-on/roll-off cargo handling, liquid-bulk operations, refrigerated cargo monitoring, and rail-linked cargo transfers.

Solvo’s flagship platform, Solvo.TOS, supports multiple cargo types and uses rule-based workflows to digitize operational checkpoints from gate entry and yard management to vessel loading and rail dispatch. Automatic reefer monitoring, built‑in rail planning, and streamlined inland hand‑offs are integrated into one platform.

“Solvo is a company with a truly international footprint—with offices in the Netherlands, Italy, Serbia, Brazil, and the UAE. In numerous deployments on multiple continents, we’ve built deep sector expertise and a strong track record of solving complex logistics challenges. Southeast Asia’s logistics ecosystem is entering a new phase of growth, and we’re proud to contribute to this historic shift—together with our trusted partners at MTECH,” said Giovanni Migliaccio, senior vice president for sales and marketing at Solvo Europe.

Solvo.TOS is currently used by several international terminals, including facilities in Antwerp, Tallinn, Luanda, and Aktau, demonstrating its ability to manage integrated sea, rail, and multi-cargo logistics operations.

Paired with MTECH’s gate and yard automation systems, the partnership aims to provide port operators with a unified operational platform covering cargo movements from terminal gates to yard operations, berths, and rail connections.

The companies said the system architecture also features open application programming interfaces and pre-validated device kits, reducing the need for custom coding and enabling faster system deployment and upgrades.

MTECH maintains engineering teams and spare parts inventories in Bangkok and Laem Chabang, allowing it to provide on-site project delivery and service-level agreement-backed support for regional port operators.
