The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) is stepping up its green industrialization program with the expansion of renewable energy use, cleaner fuels, and energy efficiency initiatives.
Rowena Naguit, manager of PEZA’s Management Information Systems and Corporate Planning Group, highlighted the agency’s green initiatives during her closing keynote address at the Philippine Conference on Energy Efficiency and Conservation 2026 held in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, on July 29.
Naguit said PEZA continues to cultivate an investment environment that ensures energy security and competitive operating costs as investors increasingly seek locations with reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy sources.
Among the projects cited is the shift to 100% renewable electricity from a run-of-river power plant for the Baguio City Economic Zone (BCEZ), and procuring liquefied natural gas, a cleaner transition fuel, for the Cavite Economic Zone (CEZ).
The agency is also maximizing the rooftops of registered business enterprises for solar energy generation, with installed capacities of 21 megawatt-peak (MWp) in CEZ, 10 MWp at the Mactan Economic Zone, and 2 MWp in BCEZ.
PEZA is complementing these initiatives with energy-efficiency measures, including the installation of energy-efficient lighting, smart metering systems, and the optimization of power distribution networks across its ecozones.
The agency added that its partnership with the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) provides locators access to Energy Service Companies, technical experts, and training on ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems.

PEZA is likewise promoting the Sustainability Reporting Guide for Exporters (SuRGE) and E-SuRGe programs to help registered business enterprises comply with global environmental, social, and governance standards (ESG) and enhance their international competitiveness.
PEZA said its initiatives support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on affordable and clean energy and on partnerships for sustainable development. This positions the Philippines as a future-ready destination for green investments, while also fostering innovation, investment, and inclusive economic growth.
