Domestic carrier Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corp. (PSACC) welcomed its brand new container vessel, MV Span Asia Go 200.
The new vessel is part of the carrier’s fleet modernization program that started in 2023 and increases its fleet to 18 ships, the biggest containerized fleet in the country.
PSACC told PortCalls it eyes to acquire more ships in the next few years.
“We are blessing a new chapter of PSACC. For the first time in our history, we welcome a ship built for us and built for the future we believe the Span Asia Carrier customer deserves,” PSACC president and chief executive officer Jordan Go said in a speech during the new vessel’s recent blessing and launch.
MV Span Asia Go 200 is PSACC’s first brand new cargo vessel with a capacity of 398 twenty-foot equivalent units, which the carrier said is right-sized for Philippine trade. It has a forward bridge configuration and an open hatch design, with electric cranes for enhanced operational efficiency.
PSACC will deploy MV Span Asia Go 200 to a new route it will be opening in the fourth quarter of this year with the rotation of Manila-Cebu-Zamboanga-Manila.
The domestic carrier provides cargo shipping solutions and calls major ports in the country.
