Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corporation (ABAC) has formalized an agreement with Petron Corporation for the design, construction, and operation of a new Jet A-1 fuel farm at the Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA).
Petron was selected as the top-ranked partner to lead the aviation infrastructure project following a comprehensive evaluation process, ABAC said.
Under the terms of the request for proposals, Petron will hold exclusive rights to design, build, operate, and maintain the on-airport fuel depot at BPIA.
The partnership is expected to unlock significant infrastructure upgrades for BPIA, drawing on Petron’s into-plane services and supply capability.
Supported by P340 million in capital expenditure, the facility will have a storage capacity of 3 x 477 kiloliters (KL) and is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2027, in accordance with joint inspection group standards.
The new fuel farm, designed to meet BPIA’s growing needs, will handle 102 KL daily –43 KL for international and 59 KL for domestic flights. It will have a minimum of five days of storage to ensure a reliable supply and efficiency.
The partnership with Petron, the country’s largest oil company and only remaining refinery, aims to ensure a seamless transition by building on the fuel farm operation at Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

To safeguard airline partners and future-proof airport operations, the partnership agreement must have ABAC regulate all facility rates, ensuring open access and preventing supplier discrimination if new fuel suppliers join the BPIA market.

A local management team located in Tagbilaran, Bohol’s capital city, has been assigned to supervise the project’s construction and execution stages, ensuring smooth progress and compliance with the schedule.
BPIA, the main airport for Bohol on Panglao Island, is the province’s key tourist gateway. It started operations in November 2018, replacing Tagbilaran Airport, and is known as the Philippines’ first “eco-airport” for its sustainable design.
