Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. (AIC) has begun initial reconfiguration activities at the Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA), marking the start of a series of phased enhancements aimed at improving passenger comfort, accessibility, and operational efficiency at the Visayas gateway.
The preparatory works signal the beginning of AIC Airports’ planned improvements across key passenger areas at BPIA that support both current travel demand and future growth, while maintaining a seamless experience for passengers.
This follows the letter issued to AIC in March 2026, wherein the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) approved BPIA’s reconfiguration work plans, paving the way for efforts to refine airport services and ensure facilities keep pace with evolving passenger needs.
AIC took over BPIA’s operations and maintenance in June 2026 after bagging in November 2024 the 30-year concession to upgrade, operate, and maintain the country’s 10th busiest gateway.
“This reconfiguration marks an important step in our continuing efforts to enhance the passenger journey at Bohol-Panglao International Airport,” AIC vice president and head of airports Rafael Aboitiz said in a statement.
“We are grateful for the strong collaboration with our partners in the Bohol Provincial Government, the Department of Transportation, and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, whose tremendous support enables us to pursue improvements that benefit travelers and the wider community,” Aboitiz added.
AIC said included in the approval of DOTr and CAAP were BPIA’s reconfiguration layout, security plan, and additional equipment approved by the Office of Transportation Security.
This approval was followed by a meeting between Bohol Governor Enrico Aristotle Aumentado and new BPIA general manager Aldwin Uy, wherein they discussed concessionaire feedback, potential opportunities and improvements within the terminal, as well as the possible allocation of greater space for Boholano goods and delicacies, in support of the Bohol provincial government’s Strategic Governance Roadmap.
“The Bohol-Panglao International Airport is the gateway to our province, so together with the Aboitiz Group, which is the current operator of the airport, we will work together to develop and make it even more beautiful,” Aumentado said in Visayan.
AIC said the gradual enhancement rollout aims to introduce practical improvements that contribute to a more comfortable, efficient, and accessible travel experience.

AIC earlier said it will begin introducing operational efficiencies and investments to increase the capacity to 2.5 million passengers per annum (mppa) within 1-2 years of operations from the existing 2 mppa.
Further capacity expansions, expected to be completed by 2030, will raise the gateway’s capacity to 3.9 mppa. These investments will enhance the passenger experience, improve operational efficiency, and elevate the airport’s safety and security standards, aligning with AIC’s vision of creating globally competitive airports that showcase the best of the Philippines.
