This year, ATI forecasts a 4% growth for Manila South Harbor and double-digit growth for BCT
Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI) anticipates continued cargo volume growth this year after recording double-digit increases in its Manila and Batangas terminals in 2025.
Manila South Harbor handled 1.463 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2025, 13% higher than the 1.294 million TEUs in 2024.
This year, ATI projects a 4% growth as imports are expected to continue to grow, ATI assistant vice president for Commercial, Ports & Terminals Reginald Rivera told PortCalls on the sidelines of the recent Logistics Services Philippines Conference & Exhibit 2026.

Batangas Container Terminal (BCT) recorded 307,000 TEUs in 2025, 14% up from 270,000 TEUs in 2024. Last year was also BCT’s second highest annual throughput since 2019’s 311,100 TEUs.
Of the total, laden imports reached 139,912.75 TEUs, a 9.14% increase year-on-year.
Rivera said they are forecasting another double-digit growth for BCT this year, “primarily because there are larger capacity vessels that are coming in” and with more locators near Batangas gradually moving their shipments to the South Luzon terminal.
Rivera said they are also in discussion with other shipping lines to call Batangas, as well as with other locators “we deem should be really focusing more on Batangas.”
BCT currently has an annual capacity of 600,000 TEUs.
Expansion projects
Rivera said ATI is also putting up other facilities to make Batangas port a one-stop shop for logistics. In particular, a warehouse is slated for opening this year in response to the request of port users.
ATI has also been expanding Manila South Harbor, including its yard, berth, reefer area, and warehouse.
Last year, ATI unveiled its P5.7 billion modernization program, which involved the extension of Pier 3 berth to over 600 meters; yard expansion to accommodate an additional 20,000 TEUs; deployment of two new ship-to-shore cranes; and purchase of eco-friendly landside equipment.
As part of its decarbonization initiatives, ATI will also be receiving by the last quarter of the year new hybrid equipment, including six hybrid rubber tired gantries, four electric side loaders, and 3-tonner and 5-tonner electric forklifts. Last year, 15 electric internal transfer vehicles were also deployed in the terminal.
