The Bureau of Customs (BOC) collected P81.361 billion in August 2026, surpassing the P77.346 billion recorded in the same period last year by 5.1%, but slightly below the target collection for the month.
Still, revenue collection from January to August 2026 remains above the target goal for the period.
Based on preliminary figures, BOC collected P664.776 billion for the first eight months of the year, exceeding its P659.309 billion target for the period by P5.467 billion or 0.8%, and was 7% higher than the P621.387 billion collected during the same period in 2025, BOC said in a statement.
The January-August 2026 figure was also the highest collection ever recorded by BOC for the first eight months of a year.
BOC said the sustained surplus in revenue collection was achieved despite weather disturbances that resulted in work suspensions and disruptions in trade and government operations in several parts of the country.
“These challenges affected both the movement of goods and the operations of Customs personnel, particularly across ports and collection districts. The impact was felt across nearly two weeks of disrupted work, while the unloading and processing of shipments in several ports were likewise stalled due to heavy rains, affecting the timely movement of cargo and related Customs activities,” BOC noted.

Customs commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said BOC’s continued positive performance “reflects the commitment of our people to deliver, even in the face of challenges.”
“Sa kabila ng (Despite of) weather disturbances at work suspensions, our collection districts remained focused on their mission. The P5.467-billion surplus we have sustained is a result of their hard work and dedication, as well as the continued trust and cooperation of our partner industries and stakeholders,” Nepomuceno said.
He added that while monthly collection figures may be influenced by external factors, BOC remains focused on sustaining strong revenue performance through improved compliance, accurate valuation and declaration, enhanced enforcement efforts, and close collaboration with the trading community.
“I thank every member of the BOC, as well as our partner industries and stakeholders, for their trust, cooperation, and continued support. This achievement is a success we all share,” the BOC chief said.
With four months remaining in 2026, BOC said it will continue to build on its year-to-date surplus while advancing reforms that enhance revenue collection, facilitate legitimate trade, and deliver more efficient and responsive services.
The Development Budget Coordination Committee has set a more than P1 trillion revenue collection target for BOC this year, higher than the P934.4 billion actual collection in 2025.
