Companies and foundations associated with businessman Enrique Razon Jr. launched coordinated relief operations across General Santos City and Sarangani province following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck in waters off Sarangani on June 8, deploying logistics, water treatment, and power restoration resources to communities hardest hit by the disaster.

Relief efforts centered on two areas. In General Santos City, the ICTSI Foundation (IF), working with the city’s Social Welfare and Development Office, procured goods and managed distribution through validated beneficiary lists.

South Cotabato Integrated Port Services, Inc. (SCIPSI), a unit of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) operating at the Port of General Santos, served as a staging area with support from the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), facilitating the delivery of nearly 3,500 sacks of rice, aid packs, groceries, and drinking water.

About 3,000 families across seven barangays benefited from the aid.

The Bloomberry Cultural Foundation (BCFI) and Solaire Resort & Casino coordinated with local governments and the armed forces to organize staging points for deliveries, while Primelectric Holdings, Inc., including affiliate Ignite Power & Energy Corp., worked alongside IF, BCFI, SCIPSI, and Solaire to move supplies, manage crowds, and support distribution. Aid was also extended to SCIPSI and PPA personnel, security staff, and IF scholars in the city.

Ground operations involved about 160 personnel and volunteers from ICTSI, BCFI, Solaire, SCIPSI, and MORE Electric and Power Corporation, along with drivers, logistics crews, and support from the Maritime Group of the Philippine National Police and the Civil Military Operations Regiment of the Philippine Army.

In Sarangani, Manila Water Company, Inc., together with Cebu Manila Water Development, Inc., Manila Water Philippine Ventures, Inc., and Manila Water Foundation, conducted a 10-day water relief operation from June 11 to 20.

The operation deployed a mobile treatment plant and a 10-cubic-meter tanker in the towns of  Malapatan and Glan, drawing water from the Malapatan River and local wells. Nine volunteers supported the effort, which produced and distributed more than 82,000 liters of treated water to over 58,000 affected individuals.

MORE Electric and Power Corporation and Primelectric separately deployed around 30 linemen and technical personnel to assist local crews in restoring damaged power lines, and delivered food packs, bottled water, generator fuel, solar lamps, and industrial fans to affected communities.

ICTSI said they continue to coordinate with local governments as recovery efforts continue.
