Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD) Corp., operator of Clark International Airport (CRK), welcomed Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ decision to establish a new base maintenance facility there, underscoring that the airport complex is geared up for world-class aviation operations.
“This investment by Lufthansa Technik reflects the confidence global aviation leaders have in Clark International Airport and in the opportunities available in Central Luzon,” LIPAD president and chief executive officer Noel Manankil said in a statement following the announcement on June 16 during the state visit of German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

After the official ceremony in Malacañang, Manankil welcomed Lufthansa Technik CEO Soeren Stark, chief human resources officer Dr. Janna Schumacher, and Lufthansa Technik Philippines president and CEO Holger Beck to Clark International Airport.
“The airport was designed to support growth, and developments such as this demonstrate Clark’s ability to accommodate world-class aviation operations. We are proud to support investments that create high-value jobs, encourage technology transfer, and contribute to the continued development of the Philippine aviation industry,” Manankil said.

The new maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility will complement Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ existing operations in Manila and expand the company’s MRO capabilities for the Asia-Pacific region.
Lufthansa Technik Philippines, a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and MacroAsia Corporation, plans to develop a facility on a 157,000-square-meter site at Clark International Airport. The project will include up to nine bays for widebody aircraft maintenance.
The Clark facility will become Lufthansa Technik’s second location in the Philippines, complementing its long-established operations at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Together, the two facilities are expected to strengthen the company’s ability to serve airline customers across Asia, Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
As Lufthansa Technik’s competence center for widebody aircraft maintenance within its global network, Lufthansa Technik Philippines currently specializes in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of Airbus A330, A340, A350 and A380 aircraft, as well as Boeing 777 aircraft.
The Clark facility will add Boeing 787 support capabilities, further expanding the company’s service portfolio, according to LIPAD.
