The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has completed a multi-city investment mission across Japan, advancing expansion commitments from established locators and generating new investment leads as it works to sustain the momentum from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s recent state visit to Tokyo.
PEZA director general Tereso Panga led the delegation, which covered Fukuoka, Shizuoka, Hamamatsu, Yokohama, Tokyo, Maebashi-Gunma, and Nagano in partnership with the Science Park of the Philippines and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The mission was designed to build on expansion projects worth approximately P60 billion announced by PEZA-registered locators during the Marcos state visit, which are expected to generate around 10,300 jobs, PEZA announced.

Among the most concrete outcomes, Ajinomoto Co. confirmed plans to expand its Philippine operations through additional manufacturing facilities in Tarlac. Yamaichi Electronics presented expansion plans that include a new facility at LISP IV, targeted for completion in the second half of FY2028. Tamiya Corporation, which operates its only manufacturing facility outside Japan in the Philippines, reaffirmed its confidence in the country as a production base.
Taiyo Yuden expressed continued appreciation for PEZA incentives and disclosed future expansion plans, while Terumo Medical Pranex engaged the delegation on its global operations and medical technology training facilities.
The mission also included meetings with Kenko Tokina, KAPCO Manufacturing, Kurosaka Infinity, Daito Corporation, the Fukuoka and Hamamatsu Chambers of Commerce, the Shizuoka Prefectural Government, Shizuoka Bank, and several law firms, financial institutions, and academic organizations. Investment forums and roundtable discussions covered opportunities in manufacturing, electronics, medical devices, logistics, automotive, agribusiness, and small and medium enterprise collaboration.
Panga said the mission directly addressed investor requirements and identified new ecozone opportunities.
“Japan remains one of PEZA’s most important and longstanding investment partners. This mission allowed us to directly engage existing and prospective Japanese investors, respond to their expansion requirements, and present new opportunities in our ecozones. We are encouraged by the continued confidence of Japanese companies in the Philippines, and PEZA will continue to provide the investor support, ease of doing business, and reliable ecozone environment that they need to grow,” Panga said.
As of 2025, PEZA hosts 744 Japanese investor companies with cumulative investments exceeding P840 billion and more than 300,000 direct jobs created for Filipinos.
