Cebu Pacific and Lufthansa Technik have signed a contract expanding their cooperation in engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO).
The contract recently signed in Manila encompasses 18 additional shop events of CFM56-5Bs, the powerplants of Cebu Pacific’s Airbus A320ceo family fleet.
The agreement concludes the airline’s final MRO tender for its legacy narrowbody engines, as it continues its transition to the A320neo family with latest-generation propulsion systems, Lufthansa Technik said in a statement.
The new contract has a duration of three years, over which Cebu Pacific will entrust the powerplants to Lufthansa Technik’s engine shops in Hamburg, Germany and in Dublin, Ireland. In these locations, Lufthansa Technik said Cebu Pacific’s powerplants will receive comprehensive sustainment services up to complete overhauls. The first CFM56-5B covered by the new agreement is expected to arrive in Dublin by the end of the month.

Lufthansa Technik Corporate Sales Asia-Pacific senior vice president Dennis Kohr, for his part, said securing their third engine contract with Cebu Pacific “is a milestone we are especially proud of – a true ‘hat-trick’ that reflects our remarkable team effort.”

Lufthansa Technik and Cebu Pacific have more than 10 years of continuous cooperation. The low-cost carrier is a long-standing customer for base maintenance services at Lufthansa Technik Philippines in Manila. Recent service agreements comprised the fleet-wide supply with consumables and expendables, specialized repairs for airframe related components, cyclean engine washes and tailored aircraft transition services. Moreover, Cebu Pacific already makes extensive use of Lufthansa Technik’s Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem, for example with the AMOS maintenance and engineering software and flydocs for their digital asset management.
