Philippine Airlines (PAL) is expanding its Japan and Australia services for the upcoming winter and December holiday travel season, adding dozens of weekly frequencies and larger aircraft to meet an anticipated surge in demand and provide travelers with more flexibility.
The carrier announced that it will increase Manila-Tokyo (Narita airport) and Manila-Osaka (Kansai airport) services from 14 to 21 weekly flights each, effective October 25 through March 27, 2027.
PAL will also hike Manila-Sapporo (Chitose airport) frequencies from three to five weekly flights between November 24 and February 27, targeting the winter tourism market, particularly those exploring Hokkaido as well as Japanese who want a tropical break.
“The winter season is one of the most popular times of the year for Filipinos visiting Japan, while it is also a peak period for Japanese travelers seeking the Philippines’ tropical destinations,” said Richard Nuttall, PAL president.

The additions will bring PAL’s total Japan network to as many as 87 weekly flights, serving the cities of Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Sapporo from Manila, alongside Cebu routes to Narita and Osaka.
“By adding more flights, we are giving our customers greater flexibility during these high-demand months while strengthening tourism, business and cultural exchanges between our two countries. The additional services also provide more cargo capacity to support growing trade between the Philippines and Japan,” Nuttall said.
Australia
PAL is also reinforcing its Australia network around the Christmas and New Year peak. Melbourne and Perth will receive additional flights on selected dates, while some Sydney and Brisbane services will operate on larger aircraft to increase seat availability.
The airline said the added capacity is aimed at Filipino communities, holiday travelers, and passengers visiting family and friends during the year-end season, and will complement its existing frequent flyer tie-up with Qantas.
